Now that we know that Donald Trump has won and will be the next president of the USA, let’s once again recall his political program. See below some of the program’s key points, compiled by the BBC:
Economy: Trump has promised to “end inflation and make America affordable again”. He says he will do this by expanding US energy production and opening up areas such as the Arctic wilderness to oil drilling to lower energy costs.
Taxes: He has proposed tax cuts worth trillions. Trump has said he will pay for the cuts through higher growth and tariffs on imports.
Immigration: Trump campaigned heavily on the issue, promising to close the US border by completing the wall he promised to build between the US and Mexico during his last presidency. He has also said he will carry out the largest mass deportation of undocumented immigrants in US history.
Climate: Trump has pledged to reduce regulations. It has also attacked electric vehicles, promising to overturn the Biden administration’s bid to switch to cleaner cars.
Abortion: Trump has struggled to find a consistent message on abortion, but during his campaign, suggested that individual US states should decide its legality.
