According to the latest forecast from technology research and consulting firm Gartner, global semiconductor revenue is projected to grow 14% in 2025, to $717 billion. After an earlier decline in 2023, semiconductor revenue is recovering and is expected to see double-digit growth in both 2024 and 2025. By the end of this year, the market is expected to grow 19% to reach $630 billion.
“Expansion is driven by continued growth in semiconductor demand related to artificial intelligence and recovery in electronics manufacturing, while demand from the automotive and industrial sectors continues to be weak,” Gartner analysts explain. The research firm has predicted that, in the near term, the memory market and graphics processing units (GPUs) will strengthen semiconductor revenues globally.
The worldwide memory revenue market is projected to register growth of 20.5% in 2025, to $196.3 billion. As of 2023, GPUs have commanded the training and development of artificial intelligence models. Their revenue is projected to reach $51 billion in 2025, an increase of 27%. However, experts noted that “the market is now moving into a phase of return on investment, where the revenue of the conclusion should increase in multiples of training investments”.
