The measures were announced after Beijing also imposed tariffs on some American products such as coal and oil in a swift response to new American duties on Chinese goods and marked an escalation of trade tensions between the world’s two largest economies.
China’s Ministry of Commerce has announced that it has placed the Calvin Klein and Tommy Hilfiger brands, as well as the American biotechnology firm Illumina, on the list, on the grounds that they harmed the legitimate rights and interests of Chinese companies.
China’s State Administration for Market Regulation said Google is suspected of violating the law and has launched an investigation into the company. No further details were provided on the investigation or what it alleged Google did to violate the law.
