Trump is winning, Europe must rethink its support to Ukraine

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban has stated that Europe will have to rethink its support for Ukraine if Donald Trump is elected president of the United States of America. According to him, the European continent “will not be able to bear the burden of war alone”. Orban, who has come out in support of Donald Trump and is among those who want the Republican candidate to win Tuesday’s US election, also supports Russian President Vladimir Putin.

Orban has been widely criticized by Brussels for his continued opposition to the bloc’s military aid to Kiev.

“If what we expect happens and America becomes pro-peace, then Europe cannot remain pro-war,” Orban said, referring to Trump’s promise to negotiate an end to the conflict. “Europe cannot bear the burden of [war] alone, and if the Americans go in peace, then we must also adapt,” Orbani said. He added that there will be discussions when European leaders meet in Budapest next week. Hungary currently holds the next six-month presidency of the EU.
