The Presidency of Bosnia expects help from the Republika Srpska for the lifting of visas for Kosovo

The President of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), Denis Beqirović, said on Tuesday (today) in Sarajevo that he expects the representatives of Republika Srpska in the state institutions to help Bosnia and Herzegovina to remove visas for Kosovo.

Beqirović commented on the decision of Prime Minister Albin Kurti, who in a speech held on October 14 at the Berlin Process summit announced that from January 1, 2025, citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina will be able to enter Kosovo with an identity card, reports ” Free Europe” in the Serbian language”.

“After this state movement by Kurt, I expect that even within Bosnia, when it comes to the representatives in the state institutions coming from the Republika Srpska entity, they will also help us to take an adequate step and fully implement the agreements that Bosnia signed in of the Berlin Process”, said Beqirović after the meeting with Albanian President Bajram Begaj, who is on an official visit to Bosnia.

In January of this year, visas were liberalized for Kosovo to travel to the European Union, but they still cannot enter Bosnia without a visa, due to the opposition of Republika Srpska.

At the press conference after the visit of Albanian President Bajram Begaj, Beqirović called Prime Minister Kurti “a great friend” and his move “unusual in the region”.

The agreement, which would also enable Kosovars to go to Sarajevo without visas, has not yet been ratified by the Bosnian Parliament. The ratification of the agreement has been blocked by representatives of Milorad Dodik’s party.
