Costa on the trade war: It is causing great economic damage

Strong warnings have come from the European Union regarding the trade war between the Union and the United States. More precisely, it is Antonio Costa who believes that all parties will be affected by this war. In an interview given to Euronews, the President of the European Council, stated that the European Union must take action and therefore must maintain a strong stance against the reciprocal tariffs of the President of the United States, Donald Trump, with the latter having no intention of changing his position. “The United States is making a mistake by causing very great economic damage, both for them and for Europe and the whole world,” raised the concern of President Costa.

The President of the European Council also focused on the effects that these tariffs are expected to bring, trying to “wake up” Trump to what awaits him.

“We need to find a negotiable solution. Tariffs mean taxes. Taxes that American consumers will pay as well as companies. It would not be good for Americans, as it would seem, and bad for Europeans,” Costa added, emphasizing that entering a tariff war is not considered the best path for anyone. Costa announced that for these reasons, the European Union will respond in such a way that a satisfactory compromise can be reached to resolve these conflicts once and for all, in the common interest of America and Europe and for their economies.
