Berisha: With Erdogan, not the relationship that Rama maintained

Democratic Party Chairman Sali Berisha says in an interview with Greek media that he will not maintain the same relationship that Prime Minister Edi Rama has with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, which he calls wrong.

“Turkey is an ally, a partner of Albania. Relations between Albania and Turkey can never be to the detriment of a third party. On the contrary, Albania will maintain very good relations with its neighbors, with Greece, with other countries, but of course relations with Turkey will be normal relations. I cannot say that they will have the character of those relations that Rama-Erdogan had, because I am not for those kinds of relations. I am for normal, friendly relations, and that is it.”

One of the priorities that the Democratic Party says it will have when it returns to power is improving relations with Greece and resolving the maritime border issue.

“I think that the relations between Greece and Albania as a whole have their positive developments, but the problems created in these years are problems that in a way slowed down these relations, but also damaged them. I think that the resolution of the Sea Agreement, the return and establishment of this agreement for resolution is one of my objectives.”

Asked about the Greek minority and their properties, Berisha makes strong accusations against Prime Minister Rama.

“Edi Rama has voted for a law that de facto potentially makes land on the entire Albanian coast confiscable for mafia motives.” Berisha says Rama is a narco-dictator and will not escape justice. Berisha also spoke about the arrival of Chris LaCivita in his campaign while reiterating that he is against the agreement with Italy on immigrants.
